Reservation wise post break-up: Open Category (20), SEBC (01), SC (1), ST (04).

Salary and Benefits

Scale of Pay: Level - 4 (Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month) plus other allowances as per government of Odisha employee rules.

Essential Qualifications

Education Qualification: Candidates must have passed at least +2 examination or its equivalent examination conducted by any recognised Board/University/Institution as on the closing date of registration of the online application form for the post are eligible to apply.

Age Limit: The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age on 01st January, 2024. The Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for candidates belonging to SEBC, SC, ST and women candidates.

  • Online registration starts from 28th March, 2024 to 27th April, 2024.
  • Submission of online application form starts from 28th March, 2024 to 30th April, 2024.
  • Date of correction/modification of online application starts from 28th March, 2024 to 02nd May, 2024.

Other Terms and Conditions

  • Candidates must be an Indian citizen as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
  • If married, must not have more than one spouse living.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write and speak Odia fluently.
  • Candidates should be of good character
  • Candidates applying for the OSSC post should be of sound health, good physique and free from organic defects or bodily infirmity.

Candidates can apply and submit their applications online by visiting the official OSSC recruitment website before April 30, 2024. No other mode of application will be accepted; otherwise, the application will be summarily rejected. Exam Pattern/ Selection Procedure

The recruitment process of the Odisha Staff Selection (OSSC) for the post of Traffic Constable consists of the following stages:

Preliminary Examination:

A preliminary examination shall be conducted if the number of valid applications is more than 9000 (nine thousand). The preliminary examination will be Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) either through OMR mode or CBRE mode.

Syllabus of Preliminary Examination:

  • Arithmetic - 10th standard
  • Data Interpretation (Chart, Graph, Table, Data Sufficiency etc) - 10th Standard.
  • Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability, General Mental Ability.
  • Current Events of National and International Importance.
  • Computer / Internet Awareness.

Written Examination:

Shortlisted candidates based on the marks secured in the preliminary examination will be called for written examination. The Written exam shall be of 85 marks which will consist of questions related to Odia language, English language, Arithmetic, General Knowledge, etc of +2 standard.

Syllabus of Preliminary Examination:

  • Language ( Odia & English)
    • Odia Language Comprehension (+2 standard) 
    • English Language Comprehension (+2 standard)
    • Usage and Vocabulary ( Odia as well as English) 
  • Arithmetic -  (+2 standard)
  • General Knowledge -  (+2 standard)
    • History of India & Odisha  (+2 standard)
    • Constitution of India  (+2 standard)
    • Geography of India & Odisha  (+2 standard)
    • Current events of national and international importance  

Physical Standard Measurement & Physical Test:

Candidates 6 times of the vacancies in order of merit category wise shall be shortlisted for physical standard measurement & physical test. The physical standard measurement shall be held as follows:

HEIGHT: 

General/SEBC: Male- 168cm, women-158 cm.

SC/ST: Male- 163 cm, women: 153 cm.

WEIGHT:

General/SEBC: Male- 55 kg, women- 47 kg,

SC/ST: Male- 50 kg, women: 45 kg.

CHEST (un-expanded):

General/SEBC: Male- 79 cm, women- NA,

SC/ST: Male- 76 cm, women: NA

CHEST (expanded):

General/SEBC: Male- 84 cm, women- NA,

SC/ST: Male- 81 cm, women: NA.

RUNNING:

Male: 1.6 kilometers within 8 minutes. 

Women: 1.6 kilometers within 10 minutes.
